Recently we have had many more enquiries for assisted charters. So we thought it would be useful to share a few reasons why an assisted charter might be right for you.

An assisted charter is one where a commercially endorsed skipper comes along on your charter but doesn’t necessarily skipper for the whole time.

1) If I don’t have the necessary qualifications

The insurance company that looks after Bluetooth and Happy Days are quite stringent on their requirements. If you have your PB2 but don’t have 3 years of experience on a similar vessel or a Coastal Skipper qualification then an assisted charter would allow you to get out onto the water.

On this charter, having a qualified skipper on board will allow you to drive the boat yourself and have someone to hand who can offer tips and advice to help build your experience. A great chance to pick up extra knowledge as you enjoy your time on Solent Water.

2) If I’m feeling a little rusty or apprehensive

It may have been a while since you’ve been out on a RIB and you aren’t feeling confident. Maybe this is the first time you’ve chartered in the Solent. Whatever your reasons, it’s not a problem. You could use an assisted charter to have a helping hand chat through what you are doing and help you build confidence so that you can bareboat on your next trip.

3) If I’m travelling on my own

Although we think being out on a RIB is the bee’s knees, we know that’s not the same for everyone. Maybe your partner, family and friends aren’t lovers of the water or you have a day off when no one else does.

For safety reasons, our insurance company won’t allow solo charters onboard our RIBs.

This is where an assisted charter comes in handy. You’ll have an extra pair of hands to help with the lines, recommend some places to visit and take the helm if you want to take a break or a swim. You may pick up some tips along the way and enjoy a jolly nice time out on Solent Water.
