Newtown Creek

When on your RIB Charter pay a visit to Newtown Creek. Located between Cowes and Yarmouth on the Isle of Wight. It’s a National Trust anchorage and during your visit, you may be approached by volunteers asking for donations from non-members for visiting.

We love Newtown Creek for two reasons.

The main reason is that it’s a great place to spot Seals. There is no guarantee that you will see them, but we tend to find they like hanging out on the port side channel. Please don’t get too close to them either in the RIB or if you are swimming.

The other reason is that it’s a calm place to drop the anchor and read a book or go for a swim. Swimming in the Solent isn’t particularly toasty – but if you are brave or have a good wetsuit, jump in and enjoy. It’s also a great anchorage to enjoy fun if you are taking a SUP aboard.

How long to get there

From Hamble Point it will take you around 35 minutes to reach the entrance to Newtown Creek.

Where to moor

Most visitors to Newtown Creek drop their anchor.

There are a few mooring balls managed by the National Trust and will incur a fee.

Expect to be asked for a donation to the National Trust during your stay at Newtown Creek. They accept cards and cash. If you are NT members please let the volunteers know.
